Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat if my house looses power? If your house looses power, your system should switch over to back up battery(s), which may last from 4 to 6 hours, depending on the system and the number and size of back up batteries. You should replace your backup batteries every 3-5 years for maximum system reliability. What if my phone line is down? If your phone line is out, your system will function as a local system only, you may arm and disarm and local sounders will function normally but your system will not be able to communicate to the monitoring station unless alternative communications means such as a cellular back up system is available. Will my system work with my new Voice over IP phone service? No, dialer based alarm communicators will not work reliably over a VoIP service. If you have VoIP phone service you will need to add a cellular communicator for alarm service. Cellular can be added at an additional expense, generally less than a normal phone line expense. How do I change my arm/disarm code? That varies from system to system. You should consult your user manual for exact instructions. If you do not have a system user manual, try our System Documentation section. How do I turn off the siren? The same procedure you follow to disarm your system upon entry should also work to silence an alarm condition. Generally it will be your code or your code plus the off button[1]. Your user manual will have the specific procedure for your system. If you do not have a system user manual, try our System Documentation section. |
